(Summary from Goodreads)

What a wild ride this was. Ready or Not follows a couple, Alice and Tom, who seem to have a perfect marriage and life, with their baby daughter Jo, who they love despite her not sleeping. When Alice starts investigating and writing about a serial killer in their hometown, things start to get tense. Especially when they set their sights in Alice.

Ready or Not was fast-paced, and a quick read. The narrative alternates between characters and timelines, but I personally didn’t find it difficult to follow. The building tension and twists kept me engaged, however, I did predict a lot of what was going to happen. The ending and reveal is pretty fast paced and pretty crazy, and even though I kind of knew what direction it was going I still ended up thinking “wow.” It was a fun, psychological ride, and was thrilling and entertaining enough for me to want to pick it up every chance I got and finish it. I have not read Alex Lake before, but I wouldn’t mind checking out some of his other works.
